How it works
Three steps, once a receipt is in your hand.
PencePal is a record of what your business spent, kept as you go, so the end of the tax year is an export rather than an evening with a shoebox.
Step 1
Capture
Add an expense as it happens: snap the receipt, attach a PDF invoice, or type it in. One expense can have several receipts.
Step 2
File
Give it a payment type and the box it belongs to on your tax return. PencePal keeps the totals and counts what is still waiting for a receipt.
Step 3
Export
Pick a tax year, a quarter, a month or any two dates, and export it as a PDF: every expense, a link to each receipt, and the totals.

Every account starts with one category for each allowable-expense box on the self-employment pages of a Self Assessment return. Rename them, reorder them or add your own.

Mileage, priced for you
ProLog a trip by car or van, motorcycle or bicycle. PencePal prices it at HMRC’s approved rate for its tax year and splits car and van miles at the 10,000-mile line.
