If your MacBook, iMac, or Mac Mini won’t connect to Wi-Fi, you might experience:
✅ No Wi-Fi networks showing
✅ Wi-Fi connected but no internet
✅ Intermittent disconnections
✅ "Wi-Fi: No Hardware Installed" error
This guide will help you fix your Wi-Fi connection and get back online. 🚀
🔹 Restart your Mac (Apple Menu > Restart).
🔹 Restart your Wi-Fi router (unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in).
📌 Pro Tip: Try connecting another device (phone/laptop) to the same network to see if it’s a Mac issue or router issue.
1️⃣ Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top menu bar.
2️⃣ Select Turn Wi-Fi Off.
3️⃣ Wait 10 seconds, then click Turn Wi-Fi On.
📌 Shortcut: Press Command (⌘) + Shift + K to toggle Wi-Fi.
1️⃣ Go to System Settings > Wi-Fi
2️⃣ Click Wi-Fi name and select Forget This Network
3️⃣ Restart your Mac, then reconnect by entering the password
📌 Pro Tip: If using public Wi-Fi, check if there’s a login page (Captive Portal) you need to sign into.
🔹 If another Wi-Fi network works, your router may be the issue.
🔹 Try using your phone’s hotspot to check if the problem is with your Mac or the network.
📌 If other devices can connect to the same network, move to the next steps.
1️⃣ Go to System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi
2️⃣ Click Advanced...
3️⃣ Remove all networks by clicking -
4️⃣ Click Done > Apply, then reconnect
📌 This removes saved Wi-Fi networks & reconnects from scratch.
1️⃣ Open System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi
2️⃣ Click Advanced > DNS
3️⃣ Remove existing DNS servers
4️⃣ Add Google DNS:
📌 DNS changes can fix slow internet & loading issues.
1️⃣ Open Terminal (Command (⌘) + Space > type "Terminal")
2️⃣ Type the following commands:
sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
3️⃣ Press Enter and restart your Mac
📌 This resets Wi-Fi settings without affecting other data.
1️⃣ Go to System Settings > General > Software Update
2️⃣ Install any available macOS updates
📌 Wi-Fi issues may be caused by macOS bugs—updates often fix them.
🔹 If you’re using a VPN (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc.), disable it and try reconnecting.
🔹 If you have third-party firewall or antivirus software, disable it and test your Wi-Fi.
1️⃣ Click Apple Menu > About This Mac > System Report
2️⃣ Go to Network > Wi-Fi
3️⃣ If you see "No Hardware Installed," your Wi-Fi card may be faulty.
📌 Fix:
1️⃣ Unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
2️⃣ Update your router’s firmware (check router settings or ISP website).
3️⃣ Move closer to the router & try again.
📌 Try switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands in router settings.
1️⃣ Log in to your router settings (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)
2️⃣ Go to Wi-Fi Settings > Channel Selection
3️⃣ Change the 2.4GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11
Change the 5GHz channel to 36, 40, or 44
📌 This reduces interference from other networks.
